Photoshoot Preparation Guide
How to Prepare for Your Glamour Photoshoot
Preparing for a glamour photoshoot should feel exciting, not overwhelming. Whether this is your first professional photoshoot or you have been in front of the camera before, a little preparation will help you arrive feeling relaxed, confident and ready to enjoy the experience.
At My Sexy Photoshoot Studio, you will receive guidance throughout your session, from selecting the most flattering outfits and sets to posing confidently in front of the camera. You do not need any modelling experience or need to know how to pose – we will guide you every step of the way.
Professional hair and make-up are also included with selected photoshoot packages, helping you achieve a polished, camera-ready look that complements your style and chosen shoot concept.
Use this glamour photoshoot preparation guide to get ready for your session and make the most of your time in front of the camera.
When Should You Arrive?
Please aim to arrive approximately five minutes before your scheduled appointment. Arriving on time allows us to begin your experience without cutting into your hair, make-up or photography time.
There is no need to arrive extremely early, as the studio may be preparing for your session or completing an earlier appointment.
What Should You Wear for a Glamour Photoshoot?
Bring a selection of outfits that make you feel attractive, comfortable and confident. Depending on your chosen package and the style of your shoot, this might include:
– Lingerie sets
– Bodysuits
– Corsets or basques
– Stockings and suspenders
– Swimwear
– Dresses or fitted eveningwear
– An oversized shirt or jacket
– High heels or boots
– Jewellery and statement accessories
– Glamorous or themed outfits
Try everything on before your photoshoot to check that each item fits properly and feels comfortable. Remove visible labels, stickers and price tags, particularly from lace, mesh and sheer fabrics where they may show through.
It is also worth bringing more options than you expect to use. We can help you choose the outfits that will photograph best against the studio sets and suit the overall look you would like to create.
Choose Flattering Colours and Fabrics
Plain colours usually photograph beautifully because they keep the attention on you. Black, red, white, jewel tones and neutral shades are particularly versatile choices for a glamour or lingerie photoshoot.
Fabrics can also add visual interest without overpowering the photograph. Consider materials such as – Lace, Silk, Satin, Mesh, Leather or faux leather, Velvet & Sheer fabric.
Heavily printed or extremely busy patterns can sometimes distract from your shape and expression. However, this does not mean you have to avoid them completely. If a patterned outfit makes you feel amazing or supports your chosen concept, bring it with you and we can decide how best to incorporate it.
Avoid wearing tight clothing on your journey to the studio where possible. Tight bras, socks, jeans and waistbands can leave temporary marks on the skin. Loose, comfortable clothing is usually the best choice before a lingerie, nude or glamour photoshoot.
How to Prepare Your Hair
If professional hair styling is included in your package, wash your hair the evening before your photoshoot unless advised otherwise. Arrive with clean, completely dry hair and avoid applying heavy oils, waxes or styling products.
If you colour your hair, consider touching up visible roots several days before your appointment. Any haircut, extensions or significant colour changes should also be completed in advance, giving you time to make adjustments if necessary.
Preparing Your Nails
Hands and feet can appear prominently in close-up portraits, lingerie poses and barefoot photographs, so neat nails make a noticeable difference.
Arrange a manicure and pedicure a few days before your session if possible. Your nails do not have to be professionally done, but they should be clean, tidy and free from badly chipped polish.
Neutral shades, French tips, deep red and classic black tend to work well across several outfits. If you choose a brighter colour or detailed nail art, consider whether it complements the lingerie and clothing you plan to bring.
Skincare and Hair Removal
Gently exfoliate and moisturise in the days leading up to your photoshoot, particularly around areas that may become dry. Avoid experimenting with unfamiliar skincare treatments immediately before your appointment, as they could cause irritation or breakouts.
If you wax, aim to do so at least two or three days before the shoot to give any redness or sensitivity time to settle. If you prefer shaving, take your time and use products that you already know are suitable for your skin.
There is no requirement to remove body hair for your photoshoot. This is entirely your choice, and you should prepare in whatever way makes you feel most comfortable.
If you decide to use a spray tan or self-tanning product, have it applied professionally or use a product you trust several days beforehand. This gives the colour time to settle and reduces the chance of visible streaks, uneven patches or staining around the hands, knees and feet.
Look After Yourself Before the Shoot
There is no need to follow an extreme diet or make sudden changes to your body before your photoshoot. Your session is about celebrating you as you are.
In the days leading up to your appointment:
– Drink plenty of water.
– Eat regular, balanced meals.
– Get a good night’s sleep.
– Avoid excessive alcohol the evening before.
– Continue taking any usual prescribed medication.
– Do not arrive hungry.
A light meal before your appointment will help maintain your energy, particularly if your experience includes professional styling, several outfit changes or an extended photography session.
Prepare Your Inspiration
Think about the mood you would like your finished photographs to have. Would you prefer something glamorous and polished, soft and sensual, bold and provocative, or dark and adventurous?
You may wish to save a few photographs that demonstrate the type of styling, poses, lighting or overall atmosphere you like. These should be treated as inspiration rather than images that must be copied exactly. Your session will be adapted to your appearance, personality, comfort level and chosen outfits.
It can also help to consider where you might use the photographs. Your requirements may be different depending on whether the images are for:
– A personal confidence experience
– A private gift for a partner
– A glamour modelling portfolio
– Social media or promotional content
– A subscription platform
– An escort or professional profile
– A personal brand or business
Sharing your intended use beforehand allows us to plan the most suitable image styles, crops and compositions.
Tell Us About Your Boundaries
Your comfort is an essential part of the experience. Before the photography begins, we can discuss the styles you would like to explore and anything you do not wish to include.
You are never expected to wear less than you are comfortable with. A sexy photoshoot can be created using lingerie, swimwear, a dress, a bodysuit or fully clothed styling. You remain in control of how revealing your session becomes.
If you feel uncomfortable at any point, let us know. We can change the pose, outfit, set or concept and continue at a pace that feels right for you.
Getting Mentally Ready for Your Photoshoot
It is completely normal to feel nervous before stepping in front of a professional camera, especially if this is your first glamour photoshoot.
Try not to practise complicated poses or worry about knowing what to do. Our photographer will guide your body positioning, hands, facial expressions and eye line throughout the session.
In the days before your appointment, focus on activities that help you feel positive and relaxed. Listen to music you enjoy, pamper yourself and avoid comparing your body with heavily edited photographs online.
You do not have to change your body, become more confident or reach a particular size before booking a photoshoot. Confidence is something we help you build during the experience.
What Should You Bring?
Before leaving home, check that you have packed:
– Your chosen outfits and lingerie
– Shoes, heels or boots
– Jewellery and accessories
– Stockings or tights, including spares
– Any wigs, extensions or hairpieces
– Nude and black underwear
– A strapless bra, if required
– A dressing gown or loose cover-up
– Any required props
– Identification, if requested
– Your favourite fragrance or body lotion
Pack delicate clothing carefully and place jewellery in separate containers to prevent tangling.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need modelling experience?
No. Most clients are not professional models. You will receive clear posing and expression guidance throughout your photoshoot.
How many outfits should I bring?
The number you will use depends on your package, but bringing several options gives us greater flexibility. We can help you choose the most flattering combinations when you arrive.
Should I arrive wearing make-up?
If professional make-up is included, arrive with a clean, moisturised face unless your stylist gives you different instructions. If you are doing your own make-up, apply it slightly more prominently than you would for an everyday look.
Can I have a glamour photoshoot if I feel nervous about my body?
Absolutely. You do not need to lose weight or change your appearance before your session. Posing, lighting, wardrobe selection and camera angles will all be used to photograph you at your best.
Can I choose how revealing the photoshoot becomes?
Yes. Your boundaries will be discussed before the session, and you decide how much or how little you would like to reveal.
